Namibians love sports
and their sport heroes. As sports are a great character builder, I am
delighted with the Namibians' obsession with sport; for, it means that
our young people have a tremendous head start in building a better
society characterised by striving for excellence, fairness, and
sportsmanship.
In this context, it
is a matter of great pride for us that our most outstanding sportsman,
Mr. Frank Fredericks, has devoted his time for promoting track and
field sports amongst young Namibians. His zeal and enthusiasm have now
found expression in the creation of the Frank Fredericks Foundation.
With the creation of this foundation, support structures for aspiring
sportsmen and women will be formalised.
I am particularly
delighted that the foundation not only aims to help sportsmen and
sportswomen in helping them excel in sport but also in helping them
develop their other capabilities by giving young, talented Namibians
an opportunity for furthering their education by creating scholarship
opportunities in Namibia and elsewhere.
Mr. Fredericks has
done us proud again. I wish him continued success in the years ahead
and with the Frank Fredericks Foundation success in helping young
Namibians to follow in the footsteps of Mr. Frank Fredericks.
I wish the Frank
Fredericks Foundation success in achieving all it's objectives.
